2025 Fantasy Outlook
Gray reached the 200-strikeout plateau in 2025 for the second straight season and third time in his career. His 21.6 percent K-BB rate was the second-best mark in the National League, trailing only Paul Skenes. Unfortunately, Gray underperformed relative to his ERA indicators for the second year in a row, finishing with a 4.28 ERA that was nearly a full run worse than his 3.29 SIERA. A .329 BABIP can be partly to blame, as it's the first time since 2018 that Gray's BABIP wasn't under .300. The 36-year-old's four-seamer velocity dipped to a career-low 91.7 mph, and the pitch was responsible for a bloated .439 xwOBA. The good news is Gray has such a varied arsenal that he doesn't need a standout heater, and his sweeper remains an elite pitch. Gray might get traded to a contender, which would likely be a ballpark downgrade but an upgrade for wins potential. Read Past Outlooks
