2026 Fantasy Outlook
Elevated ERAs are nothing new for Nola, who saw his jump to 4.63 in 2021 and 4.46 in 2023, but few would have predicted a 6.01 ERA for him last season. Just as in those previous seasons, that poor ERA came with much better ERA estimators (a 3.71 xFIP and 3.81 SIERA in this case), offering reason for optimism. Both his 24.0 K% and 6.9 BB% were better than league average, and if not for a .315 BABIP and 62.4% strand rate, his numbers might have looked much better. Plenty of factors point towards pessimism, however. Those underlying numbers fell short of his usual standards, as his xFIP and SIERA were each the second-worst marks of his career, while his 17.1% K-BB% was his lowest since his rookie season. He missed an extended period for the first time since 2017, with ankle and rib injuries limiting him to 17 starts. His fastball also averaged just 91.8 mph, down 0.8 mph from 2024 and 1.5 mph from its peak. It looks as though age is coming for the righty, who turns 33 in June. Read Past Outlooks
