Jung came into the season as a top ten prospect in the organization and as a top 100-ish prospect on a few lists yet played nothing like someone of that praise. Jung came up to Detroit on April 21st, but was sent back to Toledo on May 13th after posting a .111/.245/.111 line which included zero extra base hits in 53 plate appearances. Jung hit a more respectable .270/.370/.447 in Toledo, but the strikeouts continued as the young man has done little to quiet the concerns about his ability to make consistent contact at the upper levels. He still draws his walks in bunches, but his in-zone contact is not where it needs to be in order for him to become an everyday player at the big league level. Jung will likely once again have more time in Toledo than he will in Detroit assuming he is not dealt away considering the club has Colt Keith at the same position and is the younger of the two players.
