The opening and closing months of the 2025 season were as rough as they could get for Marquez while serving out of the Rockies' rotation. He lost six of his first seven starts of 2025 before ending the year with an 0-8 record over his last 11 starts, and he finished in the bottom three percentile in the league in stats such as xERA (5.81), xBA (.287), WOBA (.393) and strikeout rate (14.0 percent). Part of Marquez's late-season struggles may have been partially due to a right biceps tendon inflammation that caused him to land on the IL, but the soon-to-be 31-year-old has yet to catch on with a major-league squad for the 2026 season. Perhaps he gets an opportunity during spring training when injuries pop up, but it's difficult to envision seeing Marquez on a major-league roster without proving himself in the minors first.
