Hurter looked good out of the bullpen for the Tigers during his debut season in the majors in 2024. He proved in 2025 that his debut year was not a fluke, with the 27-year-old southpaw finishing the regular season with a 2.43 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, five holds, two saves and a 68:27 K:BB across 63 innings. The Tigers brought in Kenley Jensen during the offseason, but Tigers POBO Scott Harris did not commit to naming the former as the team's closer, so Hurter has an outside chance of winning the role himself while competing against Jensen, Kyle Finnegan, Will Vest and Tyler Holton. Even if he isn't named the team's closer for 2026, Hurter's strong play over the past two seasons could earn him a high-leverage role for Detroit. Read Past Outlooks
