Johnson set a carer high in innings in 2025 and was even better than in his breakout 2024 season. He logged a 2.61 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 149:38 K:BB in 110.1 innings at Double-A. The big question with the 6-foot-6 righty coming into the year was the quality of his changeup, as he mostly relied on his plus fastball and plus slider in 2024. He didn't make notable improvements to his changeup, but he still kept lefties in check (0.92 WHIP, .165 average against, 66 Ks in 56.2 IP) while mastering Double-A. He even faced more lefties than righties last year, so Johnson has done everything in his power to show he can make his fastball/slider combination work in the rotation. He threw five-plus innings in 12 of his 26 appearances and could be eased into things initially as a multi-inning reliever in the majors. Johnson isn't on the 40-man roster, so while he may look close to big-league ready on paper, it's possible we don't see him until late 2026 or even 2027. Read Past Outlooks
