Espinal hung a goose egg in the HR column in 2025 after totaling a career-high nine homers the year prior. He also went from 11 steals to just two last season, losing all fantasy utility. Meanwhile, his .575 OPS was third lowest among the 277 players that logged at least 300 plate appearances. Espinal remained a slight positive on defense while playing mostly between second and third base, but in the end, his poor offense dragged him down below replacement level. The Reds outrighted him off the 40-man roster in October and the utility man later elected free agency. An injury-replacement All-Star with Toronto in 2022, Espinal can put the ball in play, but with very little authority on his batted balls. His defensive versatility should at least afford the 31-year-old the opportunity to compete for a roster spot somewhere this spring. Read Past Outlooks
