When he was not busy being the back seater for Phoenix in a F-35, Bob was mashing at the plate in recent seasons. The former Wake Forest Demon Deacon took his mashing to the minor leagues and capped it off with a 30-homer season in Durham. That came on the heels of a 28-homer season between Double-A and Triple-A the prior season. The club knew Big Bob could hit for power, but his strikeout rate remained suboptimal throughout, and the club decided to promote the bat to see what would happen at the major league level around injuries and opportunity with the 26-man roster. Seymour is now 27 years old and his inability to make better contact is likely preparing him for a path to overseas baseball or living as a Triple-A lifer bouncing around organizations the next few seasons. His one redeeming skill is he can still scald a baseball, when he actually makes contact. Read Past Outlooks
