It was a frustrating start to 2025 for Horwitz, who underwent wrist surgery in early February and was unable to debut until mid-May. He then hit only .232 with a .593 OPS across the first half of the season. However, the second half showed a glimpse of what the Pirates hoped to get when they traded for Horwitz, as he hit .305 with a .916 OPS across 230 plate appearances. The end result was a near identical stat line to his 2024 season, with his core skills being solid plate discipline, consistent contact and a corresponding solid batting average with a high on-base percentage. The primary downsides to Horwitz's profile are his lack of high-quality contact, leading to modest power production. In addition, he's a clear platoon bat, as he'll lose out on at-bats against left-handed pitchers. All told, Horwitz should be penciled in for around 15 homers with a .260 average and decent counting stats. Read Past Outlooks
