2026 Fantasy Outlook
Alvarez has an extremely projectable, athletic 6-foot-3, 190-pound frame and has performed well while being young for his levels thus far. He slashed .355/.459/.435 with zero home runs, nine steals and an 8:10 K:BB in 20 games at Single-A, and he doesn't turn 19 until spring training. His 88 percent contact rate and 4.2 percent swinging-strike rate were elite marks for any hitter at any level, let alone an 18-year-old making his full-season debut. The righty-hitting center fielder slashed .335/.427/.429 with two home runs, 24 steals, a 14 percent walk rate and an 18.6 percent strikeout rate in 55 games in the Arizona Complex League before getting promoted to Inland Empire on Aug. 2. The expectation is that Alvarez will access more power as he fills out his frame, but he'll need to get the ball in the air more frequently (54.2 percent groundball rate in 2025). Alvarez is a sleeper this offseason, but he could be one of the biggest rising prospects in 2026 if he can add some lift to his swing, as he's already got the hit tool and speed to be a valuable fantasy outfielder in a few years.
