Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Lockridge got a brief cup of coffee in the majors last season, going 2-for-12 with a solo home run and two stolen bases as a September callup. He earned the promotion on the strength of an impressive stint with the Padres' Triple-A club, during which he slashed .328/.431/.426 with two homers and 14 steals over 32 games after San Diego acquired him in a trade with the Yankees in late July. All told, Lockridge played 116 games across his time in the Yankees' and Padres' systems (including his short big-league stretch), going a combined 50-for-56 in stolen base attempts. There'd likely be more excitement about him in fantasy circles if he had even average power, but after slugging 14 homers in Double-A in 2022, Lockridge has gone deep just five times in 619 subsequent minor-league at-bats. Nonetheless, Lockridge's elite speed and on-base skills suggest he could surface as a stolen-base specialist, though his most likely path to the big-league roster is as a fourth outfielder. Lands on IL with strained hamstring
The Padres placed Lockridge on the 10-day injured list Monday with a left hamstring strain.
ANALYSIS
Lockridge had to depart Sunday's game against the Rockies with the injury and it's going to cost him at least the next week-and-a-half of action. He had been filling in for Jackson Merrill (hamstring) as the Padres' primary center fielder. San Diego could use a combination of Tyler Wade and Jason Heyward in center field until one of Merrill or Lockridge returns.
