2025 Fantasy Outlook
Graceffo had some helium as a pitching prospect in 2022 when a velocity spike led to excellent numbers in his first full pro season. However, the velocity and results have gone in the wrong direction since then as Graceffo has managed just a 4.88 ERA and 1.55 WHIP at Triple-A Memphis. Graceffo did hold his own in a couple appearances with the Cardinals in 2024 and will likely make the Opening Day roster in 2025 since he's out of minor-league options. A shift to the bullpen could allow his stuff to play up again, but a path to fantasy relevancy looks quite narrow. Read Past Outlooks

Returns to Triple-A
The Cardinals optioned Graceffo to Triple-A Memphis on Monday.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Graceffo's stay with the big club lasted just one day after he was named the 27th man for Sunday's doubleheader with the Red Sox. Graceffo helped save the bullpen by eating three innings in the Cardinals' 18-7 loss in the second game of the day, during which he surrendered seven earned runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out two.

Recent RotoWire Articles Featuring Gordon Graceffo See More

There's plenty of hype surrounding a certain phenom's big-league promotion, so you may want to see if he's still available in your leagues.
2023 Fantasy Outlook
Graceffo's fastball was clocked at 100 mph in spring training and he dominated High-A hitters over eight starts (0.99 ERA, 0.68 WHIP, 56:4 K:BB in 45.2 innings). His dynasty value peaked when he got the bump to Double-A, but his strikeout rate fell from 33.9% to 21.9% and his fielding-independent metrics slipped (1.71 FIP at High-A, 5.07 FIP at Double-A) across 93.2 innings. The big 6-foot-4 power righty has a starter's pitch mix and good enough command to start, but regardless of the reason for the slip, it's hard to be too excited about a pitching prospect who logged a K/9 just under 8.0 in 18 starts as an age-appropriate pitcher at Double-A.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Chance to start Wednesday?
The Cardinals could promote Graceffo to start Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Royals, reports Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat.
ANALYSIS
Andre Pallante is penciled in for Game 1 of the twin bill, but Wednesday's originally scheduled starter, Sonny Gray, isn't listed for the nightcap. St. Louis may be looking to get some extra rest in for its rotation ahead of the All-Star break, which would provide an opening for Graceffo to make a spot start in Wednesday's doubleheader. The 24-year-old made his MLB debut in late June and pitched well in long relief with one earned run allowed across 4.1 innings.
