2025 Fantasy Outlook
After missing the 2023 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, Ynoa opened the 2024 campaign at full health and occupied a spot in Triple-A Gwinnett's rotation, only to be shut down in mid-April with elbow inflammation before he hurt his shoulder in August during a rehab assignment. Ynoa was signed out of the Dominican Republic by the Twins at age 16, so he returns to a familiar franchise. He could be a nice depth piece for the Twins if he can return to full healthy this spring. The right-hander showed a lot of promise as a 23-year-old rookie in 2021 when he turned in a 20.2 K-BB% over 91 innings, but he hasn't been able to stay healthy for any stretch since. ANALYSIS
Ynoa made 31 appearances (24 starts) in the majors for Atlanta from 2019 through 2022, but he hasn't seen big-league action since while missing extensive time due to Tommy John surgery and a shoulder injury. He threw just seven innings in the minors in 2024. He'd given up five runs with seven walks and one strikeout in 4.1 innings at Triple-A St. Paul before his release.

Chances are, we will not see Ynoa pitch at any level in 2023 after he was forced to undergo Tommy John surgery in September. His 2022 season started in ominous fashion as he was rocked for five earned runs over three innings against Washington. After a second poor start, Atlanta optioned Ynoa to Triple-A Gwinnett. The numbers with Gwinnett suggest he was never healthy (5.68 ERA, 1.39 WHIP over 77.2 innings), and with that in mind, it's tough to glean too much from his campaign. The right-hander showed a lot of promise as a 23-year-old rookie in 2021 when he turned in a 20.2 K-BB% over 91 innings. He also showed his immaturity when he punched a bench in frustration and fractured his hand, necessitating a trip to the 60-day injured list. Ynoa is a heavy-slider pitcher and may need to dial back its usage to protect his arm long term.
