2025 Fantasy Outlook
Once considered a top prospect, Kelenic has been humbled by the realities of Major League Baseball. Seattle gave up on him last winter, trading him to Atlanta, and after a decent start with his new team in 2024, Kelenic fizzled yet again. He reached a career-high 15 home runs to go along with seven stolen bases, but he needed 449 plate appearances to get there. By the end of the season, he was losing work to Ramon Laureano. In fact, Kelenic made just eight starts in September even though he was active for the entire month. He has logged more than 1,400 MLB plate appearances, which is quite a bit of experience for a player that is still just 25. It's possible Kelenic is not done developing as a player, but there is little in the numbers to suggest he may turn a corner. Read Past Outlooks

Connects for second homer
Kelenic went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-4 win over the Twins.
ANALYSIS
Kelenic was 0-for-8 over his previous four games and has started to see his playing time diminish amid the slump. The 25-year-old outfielder got Atlanta on the board with a fifth-inning homer Friday, and he's up to two homers, two RBI, five runs scored and a .163/.250/.326 slash line over 48 plate appearances this season. Kelenic is strictly a strong-side platoon option, and in the long run, he could become a bench outfielder once Ronald Acuna (knee) is ready to make his season debut.

2019
Kelenic failed to live up to the lofty expectations placed upon him in Seattle, but he will get a chance to start anew in Atlanta in 2024. The sixth overall pick in 2018, Kelenic was once viewed as a top prospect, if not the top prospect in all of baseball. Most Mets fans bemoaned his departure from the organization in the 2018 Edwin Diaz trade. After a disastrous first couple MLB seasons, Kelenic finally enjoyed a taste of big-league success in 2023, though he also missed a large portion of the year due to a fractured left foot, the result of kicking a water cooler in frustration. His poor luck on balls in play reversed and Kelenic finished above league average by many offensive measures. It's important to remember that he is still just 24 years old, and even with his strikeout issues (30.7 K%), he's shown some good things at the plate and on the bases. It's best to project a platoon role, but there may be upside from there in regards to playing time. His landing spot in Atlanta makes a post-hype gamble all the more intriguing.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Trade possible
Atlanta could potentially use Kelenic as a trade chip this offseason, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bowman believes Atlanta is ultimately more likely than not to hang on to Kelenic, but among trade candidates on the major-league roster, he is a possibility to be dealt. Kelenic had a .721 OPS with 10 home runs in the first half this season before posting a .595 OPS with only five homers after the break. He is under team control through 2028 and is currently projected to see the bulk of the playing time in left field versus right-handed pitching.
