2025 Fantasy Outlook
Ginn may not do anything noteworthy for the rest of his big league career, but he can at least be the answer to the trivia question - who earned the last win at Oakland Coliseum before the A's moved away? Ginn was that guy. Ginn earned his way to Oakland after making 20 starts between Double-A and Triple-A. Ginn's calling card is a sinking fastball, which is tough to elevate and has generated a plethora of ground balls throughout his career, which will come in handy as the Athletics move into a more hostile run environment. Ginn's numbers are a bit confusing, because while the league did hit well over .300 off his non-sliders last season, he also had an overall above-average whiff rate on his pitches. The challenge for Ginn is that his putaway pitch is his slider, but he falls back to his sinker when he is down in the count. Paul Blackburn made this approach work in Oakland in recent seasons, but we don't have a baseline for what can happen in Sacramento. Deep AL only leagues could look at him for reserve streaming depth, but he will likely be a regular on the waiver wire throughout the season. Read Past Outlooks

Falls to 1-1
Ginn (1-1) took the loss versus the Brewers on Friday, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out seven over 4.2 innings.
ANALYSIS
Ginn's second start of the season didn't go as well as his first, though he showed some strikeout upside again. The Brewers got to him for two runs in the third inning and tacked another onto his line in the fifth after he exited for reliever Jacob Lopez. Ginn has allowed four runs on nine hits and four walks while striking out 13 over 10 innings across his two starts. If he stays in the rotation, he's tentatively scheduled for a tough home start versus the Rangers next week.

Todd Zola is back with his weekly pitcher rankings. And while there aren't many decent starters on multiple appearances, a couple stand out from the rest.

The American League waiver wire is heating up as potential breakout players like Kyren Paris continue to make noise.

With a number of starters already logging three turns through the rotation, Todd Zola is here to give his thoughts in addition to the latest pitcher placements.

Saturday's FanDuel MLB DFS picks feature Sandy Alcantara, who has been fantastic through his first two starts, generating a 3.15 ERA and 1.08 WHIP since 2021.
2021 Fantasy Outlook
Ginn logged a 3.13 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 105:19 K:BB in 86.1 innings as a freshman at Mississippi State and was on track to go in the middle of the first round last year as a draft-eligible sophomore before needing Tommy John surgery in March of 2020. The Mets still gave him first-round money ($2.9 million) after selecting him in the second round. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound righty works with a mid-90s sinker and a wipeout slider, which is his best pitch. Ginn's changeup was improving prior to his injury, and developing that offering will be his top priority. He is athletic and projects for at least average command. While he has plus velocity, his fastball is geared more toward inducing weak contact than whiffs in the zone. However, he should still be able to hover around a strikeout per inning via his slider and improving changeup. Ginn should return to game action in the first half of the season.
