Luke Keaschall

Luke Keaschall

22-Year-Old Second Baseman2B
Minnesota Twins
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Keaschall's breakout season was cut short by Tommy John surgery in August, but it won't affect him long term and he could be ready for the start of the 2025 season. A second baseman by trade who'd also seen time in center field, Keaschall had been playing out of position at designated hitter or first base for a good chunk of the season due to his ailing throwing arm before eventually getting the surgery. A second-round pick in 2023 out of Arizona State, Keaschall showed that he is good at everything that matters in fantasy: hitting for average/OBP, hitting for power and stealing bases. He slashed .307/.426/.489 with 17 home runs, 24 steals, a 30.2 percent hard-hit rate, a 14 percent soft-hit rate and a 17 percent strikeout rate in 110 games split between High-A and Double-A. For the sake of comparison, Keaschall is two weeks older than 2024 first-overall pick Travis Bazzana and four weeks older than 2024 fifth-overall pick JJ Wetherholt, and of the three second basemen, Keaschall's statistical exploits in pro ball are easily the most impressive. His prospect Q rating lags well behind the tools and performance he showed in 2024, so this offseason is a prime time to buy in dynasty leagues. Read Past Outlooks

He's up to five stolen bases, which is tied for most through the first five games of a major-league career since 1901, per MLB. Keaschall has gone 6-for-17 with four walks, four runs scored and two RBI to start his major-league career.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Offered up by Minnesota
2BMinnesota Twins
August 2, 2024
According to Dan Hayes of The Athletic, the Twins were willing to trade Keaschall in a deal for right-hander Erick Fedde, but the White Sox were reluctant to trade within the AL Central.
ANALYSIS
Keaschall is one of the Minnesota's top prospects, but the organization was apparently willing to move him at the deadline given its strong infield depth. The 21-year-old began this season at High-A Cedar Rapids and posted a .990 OPS with seven homers and 14 steals in 44 games to earn a promotion to Double-A Wichita. Keaschall has carried over that success to Wichita, where he has a .310/.423/.477 slash line with seven homers through 52 contests.
