2023 Fantasy Outlook
If high-upside, high-risk position player prospects are your thing, Bleis has what you're looking for. The 6-foot-2 outfielder has plus speed that he should hold into his mid-20s and projects for plus power. He also has the arm for right and the glove for center. It will all come down to how much he hits. Bleis struck out 26.9% of the time as an 18-year-old in the Florida Complex League and did most of his damage on fastballs. An inability to lay off breaking balls and a general free-swinging mentality were to blame for his 70.6 Contact%. Improvement will be needed if he is to avoid being overmatched in the upper levels and in the majors, but we've seen tool sheds like Elly De La Cruz still dominate in the mid-minors with poor pitch recognition. This is an ascending dynasty asset with significant helium entering the 2023 season.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Could move to High-A soon
Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports that Bleis has "forced the conversation" for Red Sox officials to consider his promotion from Single-A Salem to High-A Greenville.
ANALYSIS
The 20-year-old had a 30-game showing at Salem last season and struggled to a .607 OPS, but he's taken a step forward in 2024 with four homers, 16 steals and a .760 OPS through 39 contests. Bleis is batting .318 in May and is in the midst of a 12-game hit streak, which has him on the cusp of a promotion. The young outfielder's 20:34 BB:K this year also illustrates his improved plate discipline.
