Trey Lipscomb

Trey Lipscomb

24-Year-Old Third Baseman3B
Washington Nationals
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Lipscomb failed to secure an opening day roster spot but was called up almost immediately. He spent most of the season bouncing between the Nationals and Triple-A Rochester. He can play all around the infield, but third base is his natural position with Lipscomb a minor league gold glove at the hot corner. He has a bit of power and speed, but last season he struggled to get on base, especially facing southpaws, which is off since Lipscomb bats right-handed. His plate skills are palatable, but Lipscomb needs to hit the ball with more authority. Washington doesn't have an everyday third baseman, unless 22-year-old top prospect Brady House impresses in the spring. Lipscomb will be in the mix, but even if he wins the job, he'll need to demonstrate mixed league production. He's not a bad flyer, especially in deep draft and hold formats. Read Past Outlooks

ANALYSIS
Lipscomb slashed a lowly .200/.268/.232 over 61 games with the big club last season. The 24-year-old will provide depth to an infield that recently lost CJ Abrams (hip) and Paul DeJong (nose).

2024 Fantasy Outlook
A third-round pick in 2022, Lipscomb climbed up to Double-A Harrisburg last year and slashed .284/.310/.438 with 10 homers and an 18.2 percent strikeout rate over 80 games. The 23-year-old won a minor-league Gold Glove at third base in 2023, but he's played second base and shortstop as well. The organization doesn't view him as a future utility player and wants him to play every day, but given that the Nationals have question marks at both second base and third base in Luis Garcia and Nick Senzel, it's not out of the question Lipscomb displaces one of them in the starting lineup to begin the season.
