Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Taylor was shipped from the Brewers to the Mets in December of 2023 and played in a career-high 130 games last season, though a lot of that action came off the bench as he made just 76 starts. He was a decent contributor for a No. 4 outfielder and finished 2024 with a .700 OPS and 11 steals in 345 plate appearances, though his seven homers and .153 ISO were a drop in his power production. The Mets added Juan Soto and Jose Siri to an outfield that already included Brandon Nimmo and Starling Marte, so Taylor's role as a reserve outfielder in 2025 is likely to have less volume. Swipes first bag of year
Taylor went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's win over the Phillies.
ANALYSIS
Starting in center field and batting seventh, Taylor drew a free pass off a struggling Jordan Romano in the sixth inning and promptly got himself into scoring position with his first steal of 2025. Taylor's been a near-everyday player for the Mets since Jose Siri (lower leg) was injured, but he hasn't done much with the opportunity, batting .235 (8-for-34) over his last 10 games with two RBI, six runs and a 1:8 BB:K.

Taylor missed the first month of last season with a right elbow sprain and another six weeks around midseason with the same injury. He did finish strong after returning from the latter IL trip, slashing .283/.327/.573 with eight homers and three steals over his final 45 contests. The season in totality was a step down as Taylor posted a career-low 91 OPS+, although going 9-for-9 in stolen base attempts over the equivalent of a half season was a notable uptick. Taylor was shipped to the Mets in a trade over the offseason and will be in the mix for starts in left field and also in right field when the inevitable Starling Marte injury occurs. Even if the at-bats are there, the 30-year-old is best left for deep leagues.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Marked as emergency catcher?
Manager Carlos Mendoza indicated Monday that Taylor is the top option serve as the Mets' emergency catcher, reports Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.
ANALYSIS
The 31-year-old has exclusively played the outfield in the majors, but he did work behind the plate in high school. Luis Torrens has been battling a forearm injury, which has left Hayden Senger as the club's only fully healthy catcher as Francisco Alvarez continues his rehab from hand surgery. Odds are Taylor won't see any action behind the plate, and even if he does it won't come close to affecting his fantasy eligibility.
