Inks three-year deal
Thiero (knee) agreed to a three-year, $5.95 million contract with the Lakers on Sunday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
According to Scotto, the first two years of the deal are fully guaranteed, while the third year is a team option. The No. 36 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Thiero was a standout performer as a junior at Arkansas during the 2024-25 campaign, averaging 15.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.6 steals in 27.5 minutes per contest while shooting 54.5 percent from the floor. A hyperextended left knee limited Thiero to just one five-minute appearance over Arkansas' final nine games of the season, and though he's in the final stage of his recovery from the injury, he won't be available for the California Classic or Las Vegas Summer Leagues. He's expected to be fully cleared for the start of training camp, but Thiero is unlikely to be in store for a major role with the Lakers early on during his rookie season.

Boston showing interest?
The Celtics could look at Thiero as a potential draft target, according to Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe.
ANALYSIS
The Celtics own the 28th and 32nd picks in the 2025 NBA Draft, so they're looking at prospects who might be ready to contribute immediately rather than long-term bets. Thiero could fit that bill as a player who should add depth in the frontcourt. He averaged 15.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals while shooting 54.5 percent over 27 games during the 2024-25 season with Kentucky.
