Haywood Highsmith Injury: Let go by Brooklyn
The Nets waived Highsmith (knee) on Thursday.
Highsmith underwent surgery in August to repair a meniscal tear in his right knee and was traded from Miami to Brooklyn shortly thereafter. However, the 29-year-old forward never saw the court for Brooklyn, who opted to waive him in order to clear room on the roster for one of its trade-deadline additions. Per Michael Scotto of USA Today, Highsmith is considered healthy and was taking part in 5-on-5 drills with the goal of making his season debut Feb. 11 before Brooklyn cut him. Scotto adds that Highsmith is expected to draw ample interest from contending clubs once he officially clears waivers.
