The Celtics announced that Tatum (Achilles) will be assigned to the G League's Maine Celtics to take part in certain portions of the team's practice Monday.

Tatum had recently been cleared for 5-on-5 scrimmage work against the team's coaching staff, so his assignment to the G League for practice is another step in the right direction for the star forward, who has been out all season while recovering from May 13 surgery to address torn right Achilles tendon. Following Monday's practice, Tatum will be recalled to Boston, where he'll continue his rehab. Tatum is without a clear timeline to make his 2025-26 debut, but his involvement in practice would seem to be a firm indication that the Celtics are optimistic he'll be able to play at some point this season.
