Los Angeles Lakers
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Reaves continued to show improvement during his third NBA season, setting new career highs in games played, minutes, points, rebounds, assists, steals and made three-pointers per game. Despite improvement almost across the board, Reaves saw his field-goal percentage take a step backward from a blistering 52.9 percent in 2022-23, to a still highly respectable 48.6 percent in 2023-24. He also went from 39.8 percent from behind the arc in 2022-23, to 36.7 percent in 2023-24. Additionally, he showed an increase from 1.5 turnovers in per game in 2022-23 to 2.1 turnovers per game in 2023-24. Regular season and playoffs combined, Reaves hit the 20-point mark on 23 occasions last season, including a season-high 32-point effort on 10-for-18 shooting in a road win against the Celtics in February. He also logged a minimum of 10 assists on seven occasions, including five double-doubles and one triple-double. He hauled in a minimum of 10 rebounds in five outings, including another three double-doubles for a total of eight double-doubles and one triple-double on the campaign. Reaves knocked down more than three three-pointers in nine outings, including a season-high seven threes on two occasions. Looking ahead, Reaves is set to remain the starting shooting guard for the Lakers, playing a critical role as an offensive contributor. He is unlikely to make much of a push for new highs across the stat sheet, considering he averaged over 30 minutes per game last season and must continue to share the ball with the likes of LeBron James, Anthony Davis and D'Angelo Russell. Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Austin Reaves was born in May of 1998 in Newark Arkansas and was raised by Nicole Wilkett and Brain Reaves, both of whom played college basketball for Arkansas State University. Reaves attended Cedar Ridge High School in Newark, Arkansas in which he won two straight Class 2A state titles in his first two years. In one high school game against Forrest City High School, Reaves scored 73 points. During his senior season, Reaves led his team to a Class 3A state title, averaging 32.5 points, 8.8 rebounds and 5.1 assists and being named a Class 3A All-State selection. Reaves committed to Wichita State and only averaged 4.1 points with them during his freshman season in which he played mostly a reserve role. After the season, Reaves underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. During his sophomore season at Wichita, Reaves was able to increase his averages to 8.1 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. Reaves decided to transfer to the University of Oklahoma for his junior season and sat out a season because of NCAA transfer rules. During the following season, Reaves broke out into a star at Oklahoma as he earned First Team All-Big 12 honors. Reaves averaged 18.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game during his senior season, including a 32 point game against number one ranked Gonzaga in the NCAA tournament round of 32. Reaves signed a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers after going undrafted in the 2021 NBA draft.

Reaves provided 16 points (7-14 FG, 0-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and five assists in 43 minutes during Tuesday's 94-85 win over Minnesota in Game 2 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
ANALYSIS
Reaves hasn't had the best series throughout two games, with the rising star especially struggling from beyond the arc, going a combined 3-for-14. The 26-year-old guard will have another shot to get back on track Friday, with the series now shifting to Minnesota for the next two games.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
Reaves broke through in his second NBA campaign, providing the Lakers with much-needed shooting and a consistent offensive spark. The Oklahoma product drained 39.8 percent of his three-point attempts and 52.9 percent of his field-goal tries overall while knocking down free throws at an 86.4 percent rate. Reaves averaged 13.0 points, 3.4 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.3 triples per contest, but he shined after the All-Star break, when he posted per-game averages of 17.6 points, 5.5 dimes, 3.1 boards and 1.5 three-pointers. He carried that success into the postseason, averaging 16.9 points, 4.6 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 2.4 triples while shooting 44.3 percent from deep and serving as the Lakers' most effective offensive option behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis during the team's run to the Western Conference Finals. Reaves was rewarded for his strong play with a four-year, $56 million contract in the offseason, and he should have a chance to prove that last year was not a fluke as a full-time starter moving forward. There has been talk that Los Angeles intends to use Reaves more as a playmaker next season, potentially leading to a boost in his assist and scoring numbers. If he's able to make some strides there while maintaining his excellent shooting percentages, Reaves could provide mid-round fantasy value during the coming campaign.
Reaves put together a promising rookie season in 2021-22, much to the surprise of many. While he ended well outside the top 250, he stepped things up over the final two months, flirting with 12-team value. Coming into this season, there has been speculation he could enter the starting lineup, although it could be an open competition in camp. While a starting role would open up more playing time, Reaves will likely remain more of a role player than a pivotal piece. Managers in deeper formats could consider him with a last pick, at least until we get word on just where he fits in the rotation.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Lakers ready to match physicality?
GLos Angeles Lakers
April 21, 2025
The Lakers are hoping to match the Timberwolves' physicality following their Game 1 loss on Saturday, Reaves told Dave McMenamin of ESPN. "Hopefully, we can just right our wrongs," Reaves said. "We played bad, they shot the ball really well. They're obviously a really good team that's physical. We got to match that. Tomorrow it'll be different story."
ANALYSIS
Los Angeles lost by 22 points Saturday in the series opener, and the Lakers will look to even things up Tuesday before heading to Minnesota for the third and fourth games of the series. Reaves was one of several players who struggled for the Lakers in that game, though he improved as the contest went on and finished with 16 points, three rebounds and three assists despite going 5-for-13 from the field and 3-for-8 from beyond the arc.
