2025 Fantasy Outlook
Mathurin's third season in Indiana looked eerily similar to his first two. He had plenty of head-turning moments, but he struggled with consistency once again. Overall, Mathurin appeared in 72 games (49 starts) and produced 16.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.7 steals and 1.4 three-pointers on 45.8 percent shooting from the field. That wasn't enough to crack the top 150 in standard nine-category leagues on a per-game basis, and he would later see his minutes cut during the postseason with some scoring outbursts mixed in. Big things could be in store for year four, however. With Tyrese Haliburton (Achilles) already ruled out for the season and with Myles Turner moving on to Milwaukee, coach Rick Carlisle already announced that Mathurin will be a full-time starter in 2025-26. Mathurin already had a high usage rate of 22.9 percent in 2024-25, but that could jump considerably. Mathurin isn't a complete fantasy asset, given his low steal/block rates, and his three-point shot is inconsistent, to say the least, on low volume. He has also not yet established himself as a reliable playmaker. But purely in terms of minutes, usage and the potential for him to take a leap in his fourth season with increased responsibility, there's certainly enough intrigue here to make him a worthwhile gamble in fantasy drafts. Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Bennedict Richard Felder Mathurin was born June 19, 2002 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Mathurin is of Haitian descent and speaks English, French and Creole. His sister, Jennifer, played college basketball at NC State, and his brother passed away at age 15 when Bennedict was 12. Mathurin grew up playing hockey and football as well as competing with the Quebec provincial basketball team. In 2018, he became the first Canadian-born player to join the NBA Academy Latin America in Mexico City. In 2020, Mathurin committed to playing college basketball at the University of Arizona. During his 2020-21 freshman season, the Wildcat started 12 of 26 appearances and averaged 10.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 25.0 minutes per game. Mathurin was then named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team. Also in 2021, Mathurin played for Canada at the FIBA Under-19 World Cup, averaging 16.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 28 minutes per game as the team took home the bronze medal. As a sophomore, he started all 37 appearances and averaged 17.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals in 32.6 minutes. The guard was named Consensus All-American Second Team and Pac-12 Player of the Year. Mathurin declared for the 2022 NBA Draft following his sophomore year and was selected sixth overall by the Indiana Pacers.

Mathurin logged 28 points (9-20 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 8-9 FT), seven rebounds, one assist and one steal in 36 minutes during Monday's 126-118 win over the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Mathurin's acquisition has played a big role in the Clippers' resurgence, and they have a legitimate chance to escape the Play-In bracket if they can string together more victories. Although the team looked like a squad in tank mode after dealing away James Harden and Ivica Zubac, the Clippers have thrived with the addition of Mathurin and Darius Garland. The team is 7-3 over the past 10 games, and Mathurin's continued work with the second unit will remain a critical part of the game plan.

2022
Following a solid rookie campaign, Mathurin failed to take any major steps forward during the 2023-24 season before it was cut short due to shoulder surgery. Although he is expected to be fully healthy for the start of training camp, Mathurin will need to make some improvements on both ends of the floor, should he hope to attract the attention of fantasy managers. He finished as the 239th-ranked player in nine-category leagues last year, averaging 14.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.6 steals and 1.4 three-pointers. His scoring was down when compared to his rookie season, however, he did manage to shoot the ball slightly better. The Pacers as a team took some major steps forward, earning themselves an Eastern Conference Finals appearance. After a deep postseason run, they opted to stick with basically the same roster heading into the 2024-25 campaign. This should mean that Mathurin will continue to come off the bench, serving as the sixth man. Mathurin can be considered a last-round target for anyone simply seeking a boost in points. If he is unable to make any improvements, Mathurin could find himself an elite streaming option and nothing more.
Mathurin finished fourth in Rookie of the Year voting last year, and he's looking like he will be a Sixth Man of the Year candidate sooner than later if he continues coming off the bench. The sophomore from Arizona averaged 16.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.6 steals and 1.3 three-pointers on 43.4 percent shooting in 28.5 minutes. He did that damage despite being a reserve in 61 of 78 games. It's possible but unclear if he'll start as a sophomore. Seeing a rookie be so productive off the bench is a really encouraging sign for the future, but it wouldn't be surprising to see the newly-acquired Bruce Brown start ahead of him. There's also a chance Buddy Hield comes off the pine, but all three of these guys should swallow up the majority of the shooting guard and small forward minutes. Mathurin has the benefit of playing with one of the best distributors in the NBA (Tyrese Haliburton), making him a candidate to eclipse 20 points per game this year. His next step is to add more stat-stuffing because his other averages are lacking. A 21-year-old has the ability to improve on those facets, though, and we expect Mathurin to take a leap in his sophomore season.
On Draft night, it looked as though Mathurin would be joining a fairly crowded backcourt, but the Pacers swiftly shipping Malcolm Brogdon to Boston seemingly clears the way for the No. 6 overall pick to start alongside Tyrese Haliburton. If the Pacers end up moving one or both of Myles Turner and Buddy Hield -- a distinct possibility -- then Mathurin would have an even clearer path to elevated usage in Year 1. The Arizona product was one of the standouts of Summer League, where he cobbled together averages of 19.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.7 made threes in just 22.4 minutes per game (three appearances). A very good athlete with prototypical size, Mathurin should be able to adapt well to the NBA game, and playing alongside a strong playmaker in Haliburton will only ease the transition. Like any rookie guard, Mathurin will have to prove that he's not a drag on field goal percentage, and ideally, his frame and aggressiveness would translate to a higher steal rate. But as long as Mathurin can shoot the ball even relatively efficiently, he'll be in an excellent position to play a ton of minutes and push for a top-100 finish.

FIndiana Pacers
January 24, 2026
Mathurin's name has surfaced in trade talks with the Pelicans, Jake Fischer of The Stein Line reports.
ANALYSIS
One proposed framework would route Mathurin to New Orleans in exchange for frontcourt help, with Yves Missi being discussed on the other end. While nothing is close to finalized, teams view Mathurin as a young scoring wing whose value remains strong despite some inconsistency. Mathurin, who is currently sidelined by a thumb injury, has appeared in 24 regular-season games thus far with averages of 17.8 points and 2.2 three-pointers on 42.3 percent shooting from the field.
