2025 Fantasy Outlook
In August, Boucher signed a one-year deal with the Celtics. The lengthy 6-foot-9 big man joins a frontcourt mix in Boston that is woefully thin. Boucher will be competing with fellow NBA career reserves Neemias Queta, Luka Garza and Xavier Tillman for minutes at the five. This season could provide an excellent opportunity for Boucher to exceed his career-high 24.2 minutes per game, which he experienced with Toronto back in 2020-21. On the other hand, Boucher is a 32-year-old veteran whose best playing days may be behind him. His skinny frame and length imply a high shot block count, but Boucher averaged only 1.0 block per 36 minutes last season. That said, Boucher averaged 2.8 blocks per 36 minutes back in 2020-21. We'll see if Coach Mazzulla lets Boucher sell out for blocks or forces him to focus on rebounding. Boston's poor team rebounding might force Boucher to stay conservative. Boucher will probably love Mazzulla's affection for three-point shooting. Last season, 53 percent of Boucher's shot attempts were from long distance. Boston shot the highest quantity of threes last season, so expect Boucher to continue to bomb away from behind the arc. He's a 34 percent career three-point shooter. Early on, Queta will probably start for the Celtics due to two seasons with Boston. But in what is a "bridge season" for the C's, expect to see plenty of lineup changes throughout the year. After a few disappointing seasons, Boucher's arrow is pointing slightly up. Read Past Outlooks
Set to hit open market
The Jazz plan to waive Boucher (personal) after acquiring him from the Celtics on Thursday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
In what amounted to a salary dump by the Celtics, the Jazz agreed to take on Boucher and the remainder of his contract in order to secure a future second-round pick. The 33-year-old Boucher wasn't a desirable asset for a Jazz squad in rebuilding mode, but the veteran big man could have some appeal to contending clubs in need of frontcourt depth once he clears waivers. Boucher averaged 10.4 minutes per game across nine appearances for Boston in 2025-26.

Boucher suffered a partial MCL tear in his right knee in March that caused him to miss the final 18 games of the 2023-24 campaign. Even when the 31-year-old big man was on the floor, Boucher had his least productive season since 2018-19. In 50 regular-season appearances, Boucher averaged 6.4 points and 4.1 rebounds in 14.1 minutes. The 7-foot-4 center did display solid efficiency, posting 50.7/33.0/77.2 shooting splits. However, a reduction in playing time allowed Boucher to record just 0.5 blocks per contest, a sharp decline from previous seasons. With Jakob Poeltl, Kelly Olynyk, Scottie Barnes and Ochai Agbaji seemingly ahead of Boucher in the frontcourt depth chart for 2024-25, it seems unlikely Boucher will receive increased playing time. Unless there are injuries ahead of him in Toronto's pecking order, Boucher's limited role leaves him without much fantasy value for next season.

Linked to Philadelphia
Boucher is a candidate to join Philadelphia via the buyout market, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
The veteran big man appeared in just nine games with Boston before being traded and waived, and he previously spent five seasons playing under Nick Nurse in Toronto, which would give him some familiarity with the system. Boucher does have per-minute upside in fantasy, but the 76ers would not be a great landing spot with so much competition for minutes.
