2025 Fantasy Outlook
One of the best rebounders in the league, Sabonis has an incredibly high fantasy floor. However, his ceiling took a hit last season because his assists dropped to 6.0 per game, his lowest mark since he was a Pacer. He was still efficient, posting career highs from the line (75.4) and beyond the arc (41.7) while shooting at least 59 percent from the field for a third straight campaign. He got to the charity stripe only 4.1 times per game, his fewest since 2018-19, but Sabonis' 2.2 three-point attempts per game were his most in a Kings' uniform. The mid-season trade of De'Aaron Fox to the Spurs shook up the timeline, but it appears Sacramento will run it back with the same starting lineup they finished 2024-25 - Sabonis, Malik Monk, Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Keegan Murray. However, they made changes to their depth, swapping Jonas Valanciunas for Dario Saric, while signing Dennis Schroder in free agency. The Kings also drafted Nique Clifford and Maxime Raynaud. Regardless, none of the changes should impact Sabonis' bottom line. Even if the Kings fall out of contention, the talented big man's ability to rack up double-doubles on efficient shooting makes him a valuable fantasy asset. However, with so many Iso scorers around him now, it'll be difficult for Sabonis to match his lofty assist totals from his first two years in Sacramento. Sabonis will miss at least the first week of the campaign due to a hamstring injury. Read Past Outlooks
Hits game winner in debut
Sabonis (hamstring) ended with 12 points (6-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 0-1 FT), 12 rebounds and one assist over 37 minutes during Friday's 105-104 win over the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Sabonis sat out Wednesday's 120-116 season-opening loss to the Suns while continuing to recover from a hamstring strain suffered late in the preseason, but the veteran big man was cleared to play Friday and didn't operate with any restrictions. Though he took on an uncharacteristically low 14.6 percent usage rate in his debut, Sabonis made his impact felt late in the game. He corralled an errant Malik Monk shot late in the fourth quarter, then put it back in with 6.4 seconds remaining to give the Kings a one-point lead.

Sabonis led the NBA in rebounds in 2023-24, and his playmaking took another step forward, making him a nightly triple-double threat. He may never be as imposing as Joel Embiid or Nikola Jokic, but Sabonis has catapulted himself into the top echelon of fantasy players in recent years. Despite mediocre numbers at the free-throw line and a lack of three-point makes, Sabonis has finished inside the top 10 players in eight-category leagues in back-to-back seasons. The Kings made a splash this offseason by adding DeMar DeRozan, but the veteran's presence likely won't take away too much from Sabonis' playmaking responsibilities. The big man should still be Sacramento's primary offensive hub, with De'Aaron Fox, Keegan Murray and DeRozan operating as finishers. Sabonis has missed just two regular-season games over the last three years and has never played fewer than 62 games across eight NBA campaigns.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could make season debut Friday
Sabonis, who's dealing with a hamstring injury, seems to be ahead of his recovery schedule and could make his season debut Friday against the Jazz, according to Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 Sacramento.
ANALYSIS
Sabonis didn't play in the season opener for the Kings, but he's been upgraded to questionable for Friday's game. The Kings could use the return of Sabonis to bolster the depth of a frontcourt that's already missing Keegan Murray due to a thumb injury. Sabonis is expected to operate as the Kings' go-to option on offense when healthy. He averaged 19.1 points, 13.9 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game over 70 regular-season contests in 2024-25.
