2025 Fantasy Outlook
It feels as if the start of Morant's career has constantly been disrupted. He put personal matters behind him but still struggled with injuries last season, appearing in 50 games. The 26-year-old has yet to play 70 games in a season, with his career-high 67 appearances coming as a rookie. Despite that, his performance has been fairly steady over the past four years, which began with two consecutive All-Star nods. The biggest change in his playstyle over that time has been replacing some of his high-flying, acrobatic attempts at the rim with floaters or three-pointers. During his age 23 season, he averaged 9.2 free-throw attempts and 5.5 three-point attempts per 36 minutes. Last year, those numbers shifted to 7.6 free-throw attempts and 6.8 three-point attempts. Injuries are still a concern this season, but his upside projects to be as high as ever. During the summer, the Grizzlies traded No. 2 option Desmond Bane to the Magic without getting a high-usage player in return. That should force more shot attempts and playmaking opportunities to Morant. He's shown the potential to be worth a third-round pick in fantasy before. Managers may not have to select him that high given his history of missed games, but it's an outcome that will be on plenty of drafters minds. Read Past Outlooks

Sits out series-ending loss
Morant (hip) didn't play Saturday in the Grizzlies' 117-115 loss to the Thunder in Game 4 of the first-round playoff series. He finished the series with averages of 18.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 rebounds and 1.3 three-pointers across 27.3 minutes per contest in three appearances.
ANALYSIS
Though a hip contusion kept him from playing in an elimination game, Morant's offseason training program shouldn't be affected by the injury. Even so, health continues to be a concern for the 25-year-old guard, who also missed 32 of the Grizzlies' 82 games during the regular season due to an assortment of injuries. Over his 50 appearances, Morant averaged 23.2 points, 7.3 assists, 4.1 rebounds. 1.8 three-pointers and 1.2 steals across 30.4 minutes per game while shooting 45.4 percent from the field. The scoring average and field-goal percentage were his lowest marks since the 2021-22 season, and it came even while the Grizzlies led the NBA with a 106.2 pace factor. Morant remains an integral part of the Grizzlies' long-term plans, but the seventh-place MVP finish he turned in during the 2021-22 campaign could represent the peak of his career.

Morant's 2023-24 season was delayed due to a 25-game suspension for his off-court conduct. After getting cleared, Morant looked like his usual superstar self, averaging 25.1 points, 8.1 assists, 5.6 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.6 blocks in 35.3 minutes across nine appearances. However, in his ninth game, Morant suffered a shoulder injury that required surgery, shutting the dynamic point guard down for the remainder of the campaign. Morant wasn't the only player who missed time for Memphis last season as the Grizzlies limped to a 27-55 record, their worst finish since 2017-18. Morant and company are expected to be at full strength by training camp and will have playoff expectations again. However, the Western Conference has only improved in recent years, so Morant will need to be at his best. Morant has only one top-50 eight-category finish in his career -- 46th place in 2021-22 -- and has more fantasy value in points leagues. However, there's no mistaking his talent, and he's the clear No. 1 option in Memphis.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Grizzlies not looking to move him
The Grizzlies are not looking to deal Morant following the Desmond Bane trade, ESPN's Tim Bontemps reports.
ANALYSIS
The same is true for Jaren Jackson, Bontemps adds. Memphis recently hired coach Tuomas Iisalo, who will be putting an emphasis on a fast-paced offense with lots of pick-and-roll and three-point shooting, and they made that decision with Morant in mind. Morant, who will turn 26 in August, has had all sorts of problems off the court in addition to staying healthy, but it's clear the franchise is still committed to the point guard.
