Jason Preston

Jason Preston was born in Orlando, Florida in August of 1999. Preston was raised by his mom until she passed away when he was a junior in high school. Preston's aunt and uncle living in Jamaica became his legal guardians. Preston played for William R. Boone High School in Orlando but averaged only two points per game across two seasons. He applied to the University of Central Florida standing at six feet tall and 140 pounds, as a regular student. After competing in an AAU circuit, Preston decided to attend Believe Prep Academy in Athens, Tennessee. While there, he grew four inches, put up 12 points, nine assists and seven rebounds a game, and led his team to a 31-8 record. He posted his highlight tape from Believe Prep Academy on Twitter and received an offer from the University of Ohio which he accepted. Preston made the MAC All-Freshman Team after putting up six points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. As a sophomore, Preston became the second player in team history to record a triple-double after he recorded 15 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds against Miami (Ohio). He made the All-MAC Second Team and was second in the nation in assists. As a junior, Preston averaged 15.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game. He recorded his second triple-double on January 23rd, 2021, against Ball State. Preston was named the MVP of the MAC Conference Tournament and led Ohio to a 2021 NCAA March Madness Tournament berth. Preston recorded 11 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists, leading Ohio (13 seed) to a 62-58 upset of Virginia (4 seed). Preston received All-MAC First Team following his junior season performance and declared for the draft. Preston was selected as the 33rd overall pick by the Magic but was traded to the Clippers.
