2025 Fantasy Outlook
Following ankle surgeries in the summer of 2024, Middleton missed Milwaukee's first 21 games and faced heavy restrictions upon his return. He averaged 12.6 points, 4.4 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.5 three-pointers in 23.2 minutes per game over 23 regular-season appearances, mostly in a reserve role. The Bucks would eventually flip him to Washington, and things didn't get much better. He averaged 10.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.3 steals in 22.1 minutes per game across 14 outings (all starts) with his new team, and he was given plenty of maintenance days with the team prioritizing youth development. Overall, Middleton finished as a 12th-round value in standard leagues on a per-game basis. Now entering his age-35 season, Middleton is at least healthy going into Opening Night. However, it's clear that Father Time has taken a toll, and the upside he once had in fantasy has eluded him. Although he could still start to open the season, Middleton will likely be dialed back or even traded in favor of the youth movement in Washington, with guys like Cam Whitmore and Kyshawn George waiting in the wings. Iffy for Saturday
Middleton is questionable for Saturday's game against the Hornets due to left foot soreness.
ANALYSIS
The Wizards are likely to re-evaluate Middleton closer to Saturday's tipoff. If the veteran forward is unable to play against Charlotte, Justin Champagnie is a prime candidate to join the starting lineup, while Will Riley could handle a more prominent role off the bench.

When it comes to missed games due to injury, Middleton may very well have taken the mantle from Kawhi Leonard. Although he logged 55 games last season, it could be argued that Middleton was never at full health, often limited in his playing time. He finished the season as the 101st-ranked player in nine-category leagues, averaging 15.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.7 three-pointers. Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that he underwent surgery on both of his ankles during the offseason, a worrying sign for anyone considering drafting him. Based on what we have seen recently, it's hard to see Middleton getting back to being an All-Star caliber player. Although he should remain a member of the opening five in Milwaukee, his playing time is likely to be limited to around 30 minutes per game. Plus, Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo will be the Bucks' undisputed leaders in offensive usage. Taking all of that into consideration, making a case for Middleton is a tough task. Managers should not be too drawn into nostalgia when projecting Middleton's overall fantasy value. Given the risk, he makes sense as a potential target in the later rounds.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
May stay put
Middleton's $33.3 million expiring contract remains Washington's most flexible trade chip, but Josh Robbins of The Athletic expects the veteran to stay put through the deadline.
ANALYSIS
While he has shown modest signs of life recently, rival teams reportedly view Middleton as no longer a difference-maker for a contender. Robbins notes that most league executives believe a post-deadline contract buyout is the likeliest outcome. His fantasy value could spike briefly if bought out into a clearer role elsewhere, but it's fair to wonder how much gas he has left in the tank.
