2024 Fantasy Outlook
Thybulle spent the first three seasons of his career in Philadelphia before being traded to Portland in 2022-23. During his first full year for the Trail Blazers in 2023-24, he averaged 5.4 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.7 steals, 1.4 assists and 0.8 blocks in 22.9 minutes across 65 regular-season appearances, including 19 starts. However, Thybulle struggled with efficiency, posting 39.7/34.6/75.9 shooting splits. While the 26-year-old forward's outside shooting isn't terrible, it was on relatively low volume -- 3.6 three-point attempts per contest. It seems likely that Thybulle will receive a significantly decreased role next year with the addition of Deni Avdija. Thybulle still has to compete for minutes with Jerami Grant, Toumani Camara, Jabari Walker, Dalano Banton and Kris Murray. While Thybulle is one of the most productive defenders in the NBA, his lack of offense and likely reduced role in 2024-25 means his main fantasy value will come in roto leagues where managers are attempting to boost their steals and blocks. Exercises player option
Thybulle opted into his $11.5 million player option for the 2025-26 season Tuesday, according to NBA reporter Chris Haynes.
ANALYSIS
This was always the most likely scenario for Thybulle as he looks to rebuild his market value -- knee and ankle injuries limited him to 15 regular-season games in 2024-25. He fared well in those games, however, posting averages of 7.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.6 blocks and 2.2 steals in 20.8 minutes per contest while shooting 43.8 percent from beyond the arc.

After coming over from Philadelphia at the trade deadline, Thybulle went on to start all 22 of his appearances in a Trail Blazers uniform. In 27.7 minutes per game, the Washington product hit 1.5 threes at a 38.8 percent clip -- a notable jump from his numbers in Philly the previous few seasons. As usual, Thybulle remained one of the league's elite steals producers, racking up 1.7 per game for the Trail Blazers. Over the summer, Portland opted to match the Mavericks' three-year, $33 million offer sheet for Thybulle, which keeps the 26-year-old in a Blazers uniform. Thybulle should compete for minutes at shooting guard and small forward again. While there's a good chance Thybulle assumes a bench role, he should see enough minutes to warrant rostering as a steals specialist in category leagues. Perennially, Thybulle ranks near the top of the league in steal percentage, and he's a well-above-average shot blocker for his size/position.
