2025 Fantasy Outlook
In his fourth game of the 2024-25 season, Banchero dropped 50 points, 13 rebounds, nine assists, two blocks and a steal against the eventual Eastern Conference champion Indiana Pacers. He scored 31 points during Orlando's next game in Chicago but was forced to miss the following 34 contests due to a right oblique strain. The injury obviously impacted Banchero's bottom line in fantasy. However, even when on the court, his inefficient shooting and lackluster defensive production stopped him from being an elite per-game producer in category leagues for a third straight season to start his career. Jalen Suggs also missed the majority of the campaign due to injuries, and despite the trio of Suggs, Banchero and Franz Wagner appearing in only six games together, the Magic made the playoffs. They head into 2025-26 believing they're contenders after trading Kentavious Caldwell-Pope for Desmond Bane and signing Tyus Jones in free agency to replace Cole Anthony. The entire starting lineup is locked in until at least 2028-29 after Banchero landed a five-year rookie max extension this offseason. The talent is ever-present, and Banchero has shown a knack for improving across the board each summer, but until he fixes his obvious flaws, the youngster is better suited for points leagues. Paces Orlando in loss
Banchero contributed 24 points (7-21 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 9-11 FT), 10 rebounds, two blocks and one assist across 36 minutes in Saturday's 110-98 loss to the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Banchero had a bounce-back performance in the scoring column after posting just 11 points in Friday's loss to Atlanta. However, the star forward struggled with efficiency once again. He's shooting just 34.0 percent from the field and 16.7 percent from three-point range thus far. On a positive note, the 22-year-old was one of two Orlando players with double-digit rebounds Saturday, securing his second double-double in three regular-season games.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
2022
Banchero improved in multiple areas during Year 2, notably increasing his scoring production by becoming more efficient from deep and elevating his playmaking. However, both areas still need work, as he shot only 33.9 percent from deep and committed 3.1 turnovers to 5.4 assists per game. Banchero was named to his first All-Star team last season and has the makings of a superstar if he continues on this trajectory, but the team around him will also have to improve if he wants to reach that level. Franz Wagner is a solid No. 2, especially if he can bounce back from a bad three-point shooting season in 2023-24. In the frontcourt, Jonathan Isaac and Wendell Carter have struggled to stay healthy, while Jalen Suggs, Cole Anthony and Gary Harris have provided inconsistent production in the backcourt. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope replaced Markelle Fultz, and the sharpshooting veteran should be a great addition to a team that shot 30.9 percent from deep last season. If the pieces around Banchero can be more consistent, the 6-foot-10 point forward could flirt with an All-NBA nomination.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Renewed focus on defense
Banchero's defense caught the eye of coach Jamahl Mosley in Saturday's preseason win over the Heat, Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
"That's what it's going to take for us to win at the highest level," Mosely said. "If he plays with that energy and effort each and every single night defensively, it's going to be a long night for a lot of people." Banchero had three total blocks in just 13 minutes Saturday. One was in transition, the second was on a weak-side rotation and the third was a chase-down block to prevent a fast-break attempt. Banchero averaged 0.6 blocks during the 2024-25 regular season, but if Saturday was any indication, he could be ready to make a leap on that end of the floor.
