2025 Fantasy Outlook
During Washington's first full season in Dallas, he averaged 14.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.1 blocks in 32.2 minutes across 57 regular-season appearances. On a per-game basis, that resulted in a ninth-round finish in nine-category leagues, making him a serviceable mid-to-late round fantasy asset. He shot 38.1 percent from beyond the arc for the second-highest mark of his career, and he saw plenty of usage with the Mavericks dealing with a ton of injuries and personnel changes due to the Luka Doncic trade that saw Anthony Davis arrive in town. Things are certainly much more complicated heading into 2025-26. Armed with the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, the Mavericks quieted an uneasy fanbase by selecting Cooper Flagg, considered by many to be a generational player. Flagg is penciled in to start at small forward, while Anthony Davis will shift to the four to allow Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively to hold down the fort at center. Washington's minutes and usage will inevitably take a hit, though he's likely to be a sixth man for the team, which could keep his minutes in the 20s. There are worse players to take with a late-round pick, but Washington's ceiling isn't nearly as high in 2025-26. Read Past Outlooks
Just short of double-double Friday
Washington supplied 18 points (8-14 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 0-1 FT), nine rebounds, one assist, one block and two steals over 39 minutes during Friday's 117-107 loss to the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
The veteran forward fell one board short of his first double-double of the season. Washington will be counted on to fill a supporting role for the Mavericks this season behind Anthony Davis and rookie phenom Cooper Flagg, and eventually Kyrie Irving (knee), and so far the former Hornet has done his part, averaging 17.5 points and 7.0 rebounds through two games with two steals, two blocks and four made threes.

Washington went from playing for a struggling Hornets team to reaching the NBA Finals with the Mavericks after a mid-season trade before the February deadline. Washington performed well for Dallas, averaging 11.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.2 steals in 32.2 minutes during the regular season, and he was even better in the playoffs, where he notched 13.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.5 steals-plus-blocks per game. However, he shot only 42.7 percent from the field and 34.8 percent from three-point range. Washington's starting role in the Mavericks' frontcourt is not under any threat, but don't expect him to be a go-to player on offense, as Dallas will probably rely on Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson to contribute in the scoring column. Washington should average double-digit points again and have a decent upside as a forward option across all formats. Still, he seems to be a complementary piece rather than a dominant fantasy performer. Washington should have a decent floor for the forward position, particularly due to his defensive contributions. However, he doesn't have a lot of upside in an offensive scheme where he'll play a secondary role.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Ready to embrace role
Washington said Monday that he'll embrace whatever role coach Jason Kidd throws at him, Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
"I'm just coming in and trying to win, doing everything I can to be successful and to help my teammates be in great positions to win," Washington said. "So it doesn't matter if I'm starting or coming off the bench. For me it's all about winning." It's been reported that Kidd is toying with the idea of starting Cooper Flagg at point guard to open the season, potentially opening the door for Washington to keep his spot in the starting lineup.
