2025 Fantasy Outlook
Young continues to put up 25-and-10 with ease, being voted to his fourth All-Star team last season. It marked his sixth straight campaign averaging at least 24.2 points and 9.3 assists. His 11.6 assists per game last season led the NBA, with Young adding 24.2 points and 2.9 threes on 41/34/88 shooting, 3.1 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 36.0 minutes. While his efficiency wasn't great, Young wasn't surrounded by other reliable sources of offense following Jalen Johnson's season-ending injury - forcing him to launch tons of tough pull-up triples. The Hawks revamped this offseason, however. The biggest addition is Kristaps Porzingis, while Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Luke Kennard are also in the mix. Zaccharie Risacher is also due for second-year development. A better, and hopefully healthier, supporting cast should allow Young's assist rate to stay high while potentially allowing for better shooting efficiency. Ultimately, he still projects as one of the league's most productive point guards and is in contention to be drafted at the end of the first round in fantasy. Read Past Outlooks
First double-double of season
Young registered 15 points (5-12 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 10 assists and four rebounds over 30 minutes during the Hawks' 117-100 loss to the Thunder on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Young's 15 points were a season low, but he still finished as the Hawks' second-leading scorer behind Nickeil Alexander-Walker (17), and the former led both teams with 10 dimes en route to his first double-double of the year. Young has opened the 2025-26 regular season connecting on just 38.6 percent of his field-goal attempts while averaging 20.7 points, 7.0 assists, 2.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.3 three-pointers over 32.7 minutes per game.

After missing the All-Star game in 2022-23, Young re-secured the accolade last season. Entering his age-26 season, Young should have more opportunities for usage. During the offseason, Atlanta bailed on the Dejounte Murray experiment, sending him to New Orleans for picks and depth pieces. The Hawks are now in a soft rebuild focused around Young, Jalen Johnson and No. 1 overall pick Zaccharie Risacher. Putting aside the finger injury that limited Young to 54 games, Young had a successful 2023-24 from a fantasy perspective, returning near-first-round per-game value in category formats. That was despite a drop in usage to 30.5 percent - a significant downturn compared to the 34.4 percent rate he boasted the year before Murray's arrival. Young still led the NBA in assist rate (45.1 percent), averaging 10.8 dimes per game in addition to 25.7 points on 43/37/86 shooting, 2.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals. His assists and steals were career highs. Given his youth, role and proven fantasy production, Young should be in the conversation for a late first-round fantasy pick this season. He's already posted two seasons averaging more than 28 points and two seasons averaging more than 10 assists.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Still waiting on extension
Young and the Hawks won't agree on a contract extension before the start of the 2025-26 regular season, Fred Katz and Joe Vardon of The Athletic report.
ANALYSIS
Young will still be eligible to put pen to paper on an extension once the season gets underway and is in line to take home $46 million in 2025-26. He also has a $49 million player option for the 2026-27 season and would hit the open market if he were to decline that option. Young expressed some frustration entering camp about not being able to get a deal done over the offseason, so while some players like to wait until after the season to negotiate a new contract, it wouldn't be a shock to see a deal get done sooner rather than later.
