Headed for second opinion
Greene will head to Los Angeles on Monday to receive a second opinion for his strained right groin as well as a sore back, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Greene initially tweaked his groin in a May 7 start against Atlanta, but he spent the minimum 15 days on the injured list before rejoining the Reds. He then made three starts before aggravating the groin issue in a June 3 outing versus Milwaukee, and he also tweaked his back at some point along the way. A clearer timeline for Greene's return from the IL should become available following his trip to Los Angeles, but the right-hander looks destined to spend more than 15 days on the shelf this time around. Wade Miley re-signed with the Reds on a major-league deal and is expected to make his first start for Cincinnati on Monday against the Guardians.
