Once the weekend gets underway, it will be a matter of whether or not Rice can log contact work that gets him prepared for USC's 2025-26 season. If so, Rice gets a questionable tag for the regular-season opener, which at least means he may be available then. For the Trojans, Rice is a proven scorer from fellow Big Ten member Maryland, with MD's 2024-25 season including his 13.8 points and 2.2 three-pointers made per game on 43.4/37.4/81.4 shooting splits. So if USC can get an available Rice come Monday, the team likely will have far fewer concerns at guard, which became apparent after Alijah Arenas (knee) suffered a long-term injury.
