Alex McPherson News: Ready to roll
McPherson (illness) is back to normal health and seems to be the favorite to regain his starting placekicker duties, Peter Rauterkus of AL.com reports.
McPherson only kicked in one game last season due to a case of ulcerative colitis. His replacements went a combined 11-for-20 on field goal attempts. McPherson said he's feeling much better physically heading into the fall and has been training throughout the spring and summer. He figures to reassume his role as the team's top placekicker but will have competition behind him in Southern Mississippi transfer Connor Gibbs.
