Competing for backup QB gig
Doty is working with South Carolina's quarterbacks this spring after spending last season as a receiver and is competing for the backup job, per TheState.com.
ANALYSIS
Doty is competing with Air Noland and Cutter Woods for the backup job behind returning starter LaNorris Sellers. This will be Doty's final year of eligibility, so if he wants to see the field again, it would behoove him to win that competition. He began his career as a quarterback in 2021 with the Gamecocks and tossed for 975 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions while completing 60 percent of his passes that season.

The Cappers run through an interesting Week 4 slate and offer their best bets. Can Clemson snap out of its early-season slumber and cover 10 points against a solid North Carolina State team?

Matt Corral should be worth the heavy salary hit Saturday in what figures to be a shootout when he faces a Tulane defense that has allowed 30 points per contest over the first two games.

Jeff Edgerton rolls into Week 2 with his betting goal still well intact after turning a profit last week. Can Jordan Addison and Pitt go into Knoxville and swipe a victory from Tennessee?
2021 Fantasy Outlook
Doty is the de facto starter for the Gamecocks heading into the 2021 season after Collin Hill’s departure and Ryan Hilinski’s transfer to Northwestern. Doty appeared sparingly until the end of his freshman campaign, completing 60.6-percent of his passes for 405 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. He can also be elusive and does have dual-threat ability. Doty will have arguably the top running back in the conference to lean on in the form of Kevin Smith, though the wide receiving corps will be extremely green. New head coach Shane Beamer will have his work cut out for him, but the relative success or failure of the program early on may hinge on Doty. That’s a lot of pressure.
