Philander's Somerset contract for the 2020 County season has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic by mutual agreement, BBC reports.
ANALYSIS
The former South Africa all-rounder was on the line to join Somerset County Club for the 2020 season on a Kolpak deal but due to coronavirus pandemic all domestic matches in England got delayed on account of that, Philander and the club have decided to cancel the contract on mutual agreement. Moreover, the director of cricket Andy Hurry said, "Given the current uncertainty the cancellation of his contract was a prudent and sensible decision. I would like to thank Vernon and his management team for their understanding of the current situation and we hope one day to see Vernon back wearing Somerset colors."
