Oscar Piastri

McLaren F1 Team
2023 Fantasy Outlook
The Australian rookie Piastri has quite the shoes to fill in his first season with Formula One, taking former McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo's spot as Lando Norris' teammate for the 2023 campaign. Piastri was quite the phenom in his last season with Formula 2 in 2021, winning a total of six times, earning 252 points, and walking away with the Driver's Championship after just 23 starts in the series. The driver of the No. 81 will have a lot of eyes on his on-track performance this year, as McLaren is famous for their incoming drivers having issues sufficiently adapting to the feeling and handling of the car. In the upcoming season, Piastri's greatest challenge will be learning how to adjust his racing style to fit the capabilities of the MCL36 and where he fits amongst all the new talent on the grid this season. Wins Saudi Arabian Grand Prix
Formula One
April 20, 2025
Piastri won the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix Formula 1 race at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit on Sunday evening.
ANALYSIS
Piastri would seemingly cover Max Verstappen well as the two battled into turn 1 after the lights out. It would look like the McLaren youngster lead but Verstappen would go off course in the turn to stay ahead of him. A few laps later the stewards would slap Verstappen with a 5-second penalty and Piastri would ride P2 until pitstops and that penalty could be assessed. Once stops cycled through, Piastri would take the lead on lap 34. From there he'd hold Verstappen at bay and cross the finish line 2.8-seconds ahead of the Dutchman for his third victory of the season.
