2023 Fantasy Outlook
One of the more interesting driver moves in the midfield comes as Gasly makes the switch from Alpha Tauri to Alpine. Gasly entered Formula One in 2017 and has had stints at Toro Rosso, as well as the primary Red Bull team. His move to Alpine takes him out of the Red Bull structure and gives him an opportunity to start with a fresh slate. Alpine finishing fourth in last season's Constructor's standings compared to Alpha Tauri's ninth is also a nice attraction for him. Gasly said he is approaching his start with Alpine differently from his first outings with Red Bull and has a much clearer view of what he needs to be competitive, which he hopes will help him finish higher in the order. He finished in the top 10 six times last season and only tallied three DNFs. This season's opportunity with a faster car under the new rules package should be a boost for him early in 2023. Pit Lane Start
Gasly finished 16th in the Italian Grand Prix Formula 1 race at the Monza Circuit on Sunday afternoon.
ANALYSIS
The Alpine veteran would start the grand prix from 20th-place on pit lane due to power unit changes prior to the race. That would put him on the backfoot from the get-go. Gasly would opt for hard compound tyres to start and run most of the race on one set of tyres. He would race up to a high of P10 at one point during mid-race pit stops but would only fade back into the field on the old rubber as his tyres degraded. A lap 49 pit stop for fresh rubber would do nothing to mitigate Gasly's fall through the field and he would finish P16 at Monza.
