Patrick Surtain

Surtain is a good cover corner, but his move to coach Herm Edwards' Cover 2 scheme has been detrimental to his IDP value. His 66 total tackles last season were a career-high, but he posted just one interception and his number of passes defended took a dip. You can probably find other defensive backs out there who will give you a better chance of generating turnovers.

A strong cornerback, Surtain now teams with Ty Law to give the Chiefs a formidable duo on the corners. He finished 2005 with four interceptions.

After watching their defense give up points at will last season, the Chiefs desperately pursued a shutdown cornerback this offseason, landing one in a trade for Surtain. One of the league's elite corners, Surtain immediately steps into the starting left cornerback position. The former Dolphin will use his good size and reliable hands in an effort to build on the four interceptions he had in 2004. Expect Surtain to once again be a top fantasy option in IDP leagues.
