Candidate to be traded
The Packers have had conversations about trading Alexander (knee) this offseason, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Alexander is one of the league's premier cornerbacks when healthy, but injuries have limited him to just 14 regular-season games and two postseason appearances over the past two years. The two-time Pro Bowler is currently working his way back from a knee procedure he underwent in early January. Alexander has two years remaining on his contract, but since he carries cap hits north of $25 million in both seasons, any team interested in trading for the 28-year-old would likely be motivated to restructure his deal.

The NFL's highest-paid cornerback was unavailable for 10 games in 2023, but he finished the season healthy and occupied his usual starting spot in the postseason. Availability was an issue for Alexander two of the last three years, but if he can remain on the roster for the duration of the campaign, the upside of the Green Bay defense will unquestionably be higher.

Wanted back by franchise QB
In an appearance on the "Up and Adams" podcast Thursday, Packers quarterback Jordan Love said that Alexander is "...definitely a player we need back...that's a guy we need to have around," Coral Smith of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Alexander has been effective while on the field -- which prompted the Packers to sign him to a four-year, $84 million contract extension in May of 2022 -- but the two-time Pro Bowler has played in just 14 regular-season games over the past two years due to injury. His lack of playing time and remaining salary prompted trade talks in February, but Love reiterated his desire to have Alexander remain a Packer on Thursday, and general manager Brian Gutekunst left the door open for the All-Pro corner to return to Green Bay in 2025, per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic in late March.
