28-Year-Old Wide ReceiverWR
San Francisco 49ers
2025 Fantasy Outlook
A 2020 seventh-round pick, Jennings didn't play until 2021 and then spent three seasons as a lightly targeted No. 3/4 receiver, before making a name for himself with two TDs in a Super Bowl loss at the end of the 2023 campaign. He opened 2024 in his familiar, complementary role, but then exploded for 11-175-3 in Week 3 when Deebo Samuel was out. Brandon Aiyuk tore an ACL a few weeks later, opening the door for Jennings to average 5.8 catches for 63.4 yards and 0.33 TDs on 8.6 targets over his final nine games. He never reached 100 yards after Week 3, but he had seven instances of 64-plus receiving yards -- a number he'd hit just once in 54 games (including playoffs) before 2024. Jennings drew targets on 28.8 percent of his routes, ranking seventh among WRs with 300-plus routes and nearly doubling his rate from 2023 (15.1 percent TPRR). He also had career highs for catch rate (68.1 percent) and yards per target (8.6), although those numbers still don't match the best work from Aiyuk, Samuel and TE George Kittle under coach Kyle Shanahan. Samuel is now in Washington, Kittle is another year older, and Aiyuk is uncertain for Week 1, but now Jennings is now dealing with a calf injury and reportedly unhappy with his contract. He's thus uncertain to play at the start of the season, potentially missing out on a window when fellow wideouts Aiyuk and Demarcus Robinson (suspension) when won't be available. Read Past Outlooks

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Friday that Jennings (calf) is "good to go" for Sunday's contest at Seattle, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports. "He's had a real good week," Shanahan added. "[He's] gotten better and better throughout the week, and I'm excited to see him out there Sunday."
ANALYSIS
Jennings logged limited practices Wednesday and Thursday due to the calf injury that's impacted him at times since the offseason program, but he also gained some clarity with his contract this week when he and the 49ers agreed to $3 million in play-time incentives for the 2025 season. He'll open the campaign with Ricky Pearsall as the top wide receivers for QB Brock Purdy in the absence of Brandon Aiyuk, who is on the reserve/PUP list as he completes his recovery from the ACL and MCL tears that he suffered Week 7 of last year. Jennings put together a career-best 77-975-6 line on 113 targets in 15 regular-season games in 2024.

Jennings is a talented player, but he is often used as a blocking receiver. The veteran was targeted fewer than three times per game. In addition, Jennings rarely played 30 snaps in a game. As long as the 49ers are a run-heavy team, Jennings may not have much of a role in the passing attack. Also, the 49ers used a first-round pick on slot receiver Ricky Pearsall, so Jennings is unlikely to produce useful fantasy numbers with consistency. Should either of the top-two receivers miss time for the 49ers, Jennings could see increased volume, which would raise his fantasy value.
Jennings fortified his hold on the 49ers' slot receiver role in his third year as a pro last season. The 25-year-old was unable to build on the five touchdowns he tallied in 2021, finishing with just one score to go with his 35 receptions and 416 yards. If Jennings and his 6-3 frame can improve in the red zone this year, he would see a boost to his current fantasy value. The 2020 seventh-round pick doesn't have the athleticism of fellow wideouts Deebo Samuel or Brandon Aiyuk, but Jennings will provide strong run blocking and sure hands for San Francisco in the fall.
Jennings took on the vacated slot receiver role once veteran Mohamed Sanu went down to injury midseason. A seventh-round pick in 2020, Jennings thrived in a more prominent role, racking up 21 receptions (on 32 targets) for 251 yards and four touchdowns over the final nine games of the regular season. Blessed with a 6-3, 212-pound frame, the third-year wideout provides a reliable red-zone target with plus blocking. Perhaps Jennings generates fantasy appeal in his current role at third on the Week 1 projected depth chart if Trey Lance can open up San Francisco's passing game.
The 49ers selected Jennings with its final pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-3 wideout brings much-needed size to the team's receiving corps following the season-ending injury to Jalen Hurd. What the 23-year-old lacks in speed (4.72 40-yard dash), he makes up for in soft hands and strong after-the-catch ability (29 broken tackles in his senior year at Tennessee). Jennings will have to prove his worth during training camp to squeeze onto the 53-man roster, but he will also be practice squad eligible as well.

Gets playing time incentives added
WRSan Francisco 49ers
September 3, 2025
Jennings, who'd previously requested a trade over dissatisfaction with his contract, reached an agreement on a deal with the 49ers on Wednesday that adds $3 million in play-time incentives for the 2025 season, Adam Schefter of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The veteran wideout now has the chance to earn up to $10.5 million in 2025 after previously being capped at $7.5 million. Schefter also separately reports Jennings still retains the ability to become a free agent after the 2025 campaign, one he'll open in an expanded role whenever he overcomes his calf injury thanks to the absences of the suspended Demarcus Robinson and Brandon Aiyuk, who is on the PUP list.
