2025 Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Jewell is a story of both good and bad news. His first year in Carolina didn't go according to plan, as his missed tackle rate spiked to 11.7 percent (per PFF) while his yards per reception allowed jumped to a career-worst mark of 11.4. Not all is lost, however, as Carolina invested in Tershawn Wharton and will get Derrick Brown (knee) back healthy, which should free Jewell up to roam around more freely. Jewell's track record suggests a bounce back, but there are reasons for concern based on what we saw in 2024. Read Past Outlooks
Released by Carolina
Jewell (head) was released by the Panthers on Tuesday, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jewell has remained in concussion protocol since suffering a concussion in the Panthers' Week 15 overtime win over the Cardinals last season. The linebacker compiled 97 total tackles (51 solo), including a career-high 3.5 sacks, while also adding two fumble recoveries and an interception over 12 regular-season contests with Carolina in 2024. If Jewell can shake the concussion symptoms, it won't take long for him to find another opportunity elsewhere.

Jewell has emerged as a capable linebacker in any role asked of him, but he also doesn't stand out as elite in any specific way either. That's good enough for him to have topped 100 tackles in each of his last three full seasons, and he's also chipped in a combined 5.5 sacks and seven passes defensed across the last two campaigns combined. His production is relatively stable, though there may be some slight upside now that he's reunited with defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero in Carolina, who was in the same position with the Broncos in 2022-- Jewell's most productive season.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Unlikely to remain with Broncos
Jewell is unlikely to re-sign with the Broncos in 2024, according to Jeff Legwold of ESPN.
ANALYSIS
Russell Wilson's mega deal will leave the Broncos cap-strapped in 2024, regardless of whether the underperforming quarterback is released. General manager George Paton has said Denver is likely to sit out the first wave of free agency, which will make it difficult to re-sign top free agents such as Jewell, who has reached the 100-tackle threshold in three of the past four seasons. The 29-year-old linebacker would likely have to take less than his market value to re-sign with the Broncos.
