2025 Fantasy Outlook
Re-signed to Kansas City on a one-year, $1.5 million contract, Hunt gives the Chiefs a stable option in the backfield who knows the Andy Reid offense and almost never fumbles. The Chiefs were desperate to find such stability when Isiah Pacheco suffered a fractured fibula in September, so they were content with Hunt as starter given the circumstances. What's less clear is whether the Chiefs have as much use for Hunt if the circumstances were less desperate -- if Pacheco and free agent pickup Elijah Mitchell are fully healthy, for instance, would there be a function for Hunt to serve at that point? Mitchell is a major durability problem and Pacheco is on his way to the same distinction, so it would be surprising if Hunt were to leave the Chiefs before 2026, but Hunt doesn't have much from-scrimmage explosiveness left with age 30 coming up in August. RANKS
Ties Pacheco for rushes and targets
Hunt rushed five times for 16 yards and secured two of three targets for 10 yards during the Chiefs' 27-21 loss to the Chargers on Friday night.
ANALYSIS
Hunt and Pacheco split touches evenly Week 1, but neither found much room to run against a stout Los Angeles defensive front, as both finished with under 30 total offensive yards. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes in fact led the ground game in terms of both opportunities and production, rushing six times for 57 yards and one score. Hunt profiles to operate as the No. 2 backfield option behind Pacheco at home against the Eagles in Week 2, a Super Bowl rematch that could see the Chiefs lean increasingly on the rushing attack due to Rashee Rice (suspension) being out and the status of Xavier Worthy (shoulder) uncertain.

Hunt remained unsigned to begin 2023, but when Nick Chubb went down with a season-ending knee injury Week 2, the Browns turned to a familiar face to help fill the massive hole in their backfield. Hunt got a lot of his work in the red zone, scoring nine rushing touchdowns despite averaging just 3.0 yards per carry while Jerome Ford handled a lead role. Hunt is a free agent again this offseason, but Cleveland has added more depth in case Chubb isn't 100 percent, bringing in D'Onta Foreman and Nyheim Hines. It's unclear if Hunt will find a home for his age-29 season, and he'll likely have to compete for a roster spot if/when he does.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Officially returns to KC
Hunt re-signed with the Chiefs on Friday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The veteran back will return for what would officially be considered his third tour of duty with the defending AFC champions. Hunt rejoined Kansas City during the 2024 regular season following Isiah Pacheco's early season fibula fracture and ended up playing a significant role, recording 904 total scrimmage yards and seven rushing touchdowns across 13 regular-season contests. Hunt's new deal is for one year and worth up to $2.5 million, implying he should still command a solid complementary role despite the presence of a healthier Pacheco and the recent addition of Elijah Mitchell.
