Laporta posted a one-under 69 in the final round of the Investec South African Open Championship to finish in a three-way tie for second with Hennie Du Plessis and Frederic LaCroix and three strokes behind winner Casey Jarvis.

Laporta looked to be well on his way to his first DP World Tour victory after opening the tournament with a 66-64 scorecard, but the Italian was unable to maintain his lead over the weekend. It was a disappointing finish for Laporta, but he has finished in the top-5 in back-to-back DP Tour events, and his finish in South Africa means that he'll be in the field for The Open at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in mid-July. He'll be in the field next week for the Joburg Open, where he has finished in the top-20 in three of his last four outings (including T19 in 2025).
