Robert Streb

Usually when you pick up a full-field win on the PGA Tour you aren't really sweating making it into the second leg of the playoffs. That just kind of tells you the type of season Streb had. He ended up missing half of his cuts with that win being the only top-10. Streb was solid with his short game and putter, but his ball-striking needs a lot of work if he is going to put in consistent results in 2021-22.

After a breakthrough season in 2014-15, Streb failed to qualify for the FedEx Cup Playoffs for a third straight season and finds himself in a position where he has to play the weekly Korn Ferry Tour instead of the PGA Tour event on occasion. With more missed cuts than made cuts in each of the last three seasons, it's hard to envision a sudden resurgence in Streb's game this season.

Streb has made the playoffs four of his seven seasons on the PGA Tour, with the outlier being his 2015 season when he posted nine top-10s and 16 top-25s, including his lone PGA Tour win as he banked nearly $4 million. Since then, he's had a couple solid seasons, but his two most recent seasons on the PGA Tour have left a lot to be desired. Streb's 2017-18 season was the low point. He fared much better last season, though he only made 12-of-28 cuts and ranked 160th in SG: Total, finishing 128th on the points list. A trip to the Korn Ferry Finals earned his card for this season. Just don't expect anything near his 2015 numbers.

The 31-year-old had made over $1 million in each of the past four seasons, but struggled in posting just one top-10 finish in 2017-18 for a measly $411,606 in earnings. After qualifying for full status again via the Web.com Tour Finals, expect Streb to show more consistency in the 2018-19 season and return to a $1 million dollar man.

Last season was Streb's fifth on the PGA Tour and it's still not clear who he is. Is he the guy who nearly topped $4 million in earnings in 2015, or the guy who has spent three seasons between $1-2 million. Logic would dictate that the 2015 season was an outlier because he hasn't come close to those results before or since. That said, with a proven upside of nearly $4 million and a cap number of more than $1.5 million, Streb might be worth a shot this season.

Four years on the PGA Tour and Streb has yet to figure out who he is. Two years ago, he posted fantastic numbers -- one win, one runner-up and nine top-10s on his way to nearly $4 million in earnings. However, the season prior he was just over $1.3 million and last year he barely topped $1 million. So which guy is he going to be this season? One possible explanation for last season is that after having so much success the year prior, he may have let-up a bit. If that's the case, then he's a great salary cap pick this year and even if that's not the case, there's not much risk as his price is very fair. In drafts he could go as high as the sixth or seventh round.

Streb struggled in his rookie season, but he turned it around last year on his way to a top-100 finish on the money list. The main reason for the turn-around was his consistency. In 21 events, Streb missed only four cuts. Once on the weekend, Streb failed to get much done, but he did manage two top-10s and one runner-up finish at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Streb could go one of two ways this year, a regression to his rookie season or an improvement on his sophomore campaign. There's no way to tell which way he'll go, so it's probably best to avoid Streb in salary cap leagues this year. In draft leagues, Streb should go in the 9th or 10th round.

Streb got hot in August, going on a run of T6-T8-T41-1 to help earn him the $305K and change, elevating him to his seventh-place finish on the Web.com Tour money list and his 2013 PGA TOUR card. Streb needs to work on his long game, as his middle-of-the-road rankings for fairways hit and greens in regulation likely won't cut it in a truncated 2013 PGA TOUR season. Streb does have talent, however, – as he bookended his victory at the Mylan Classic with rounds of 64.
