Sandwiched between two busy nights, there are only four games on the docket Wednesday. Unusually, there are no 7 p.m. ET starts tonight, but there are matches set to begin at 7:30 (the Rangers at Chicago), 8:30 (Detroit at Calgary), 9 p.m. (Florida at Utah) and 10 p.m. (Los Angeles at Seattle).
SLATE PREVIEW
Every team playing tonight has enjoyed at least one day off. However, Detroit and Florida are scheduled to play again Thursday, which might influence those squads' lineup decisions tonight.
GOALIES
Igor Shesterkin, NYR at CHI ($7,900): Shesterkin has been a steady presence lately, posting a 5-1-1 record, 2.28 GAA and .923 save percentage across his past seven outings while allowing two or three goals in each of those games. The Blackhawks are in free fall after going 2-6-2 in their past 10 games, so this is as good a time as any to face them.
Darcy Kuemper, LAK at SEA ($7,700): Kuemper has surrendered two or fewer goals in seven of his past eight games, resulting in a 1.87 GAA and a .930 save percentage across that stretch. He has won just three of those games due to limited support, but Seattle is on a six-game losing streak (0-5-1), so this is a very winnable game for the Kings.
VALUE PLAYS
Morgan Frost, CAL vs. DET ($4,700): Frost has been steady lately, supplying four goals and nine points across his past 12 appearances. It doesn't hurt that he's projected to play on Calgary's top line and first power-play unit, which should provide him with opportunities to build on his recent success.
James van Riemsdyk, DET at CAL ($4,000): Van Riemsdyk isn't the goal scorer he once was, but he could easily fool you right now. The 36-year-old has collected six goals over his past seven appearances and is on a four-game goal-scoring streak going into tonight's action.
FORWARD LINE STACK
Panthers at Mammoth
Sam Bennett (C - $5,500), Brad Marchand (W - $7,500), Carter Verhaeghe (W - $5,900)
The Panthers don't currently occupy a playoff spot, but this trio has done their part to earn them one. Marchand has been especially effective with 16 goals and 31 points through 27 appearances. It seems being 37 hasn't slowed his production. Bennett hasn't been as impressive overall with seven goals and 17 points through 28 appearances, but the 29-year-old does have four goals and 12 points over his last 10 appearances.
Meanwhile, Verhaeghe is the hottest member of this unit. He's on a three-game goal-scoring streak and has collected six markers and 11 points over his past six appearances. The 30-year-old is up to eight goals and 21 points in 27 outings in 2025-26.
DEFENSEMEN
Rasmus Andersson, CAL vs. DET ($6,200): Andersson has been one of the most productive defensemen offensively since mid-November, supplying five goals and 16 points across his past 14 outings. That's pushed him up to 21 points through 31 appearances this season and puts him well on his way toward reaching the 40-point mark in a regular season for the first time since 2022-23.
Axel Sandin-Pellikka, DET at CAL ($4,300): Sandin-Pellikka registered two assists Monday to extend his scoring streak to three games. The 20-year-old rookie defenseman is up to two goals and 10 points, including four helpers on the power play, through 30 appearances this year.
