Jaros is attempting an NHL comeback after spending the last three seasons in the KHL. Most recently, he put up 12 points in 51 regular-season games for CSKA Moscow in 2024-25. Jaros is a veteran of 94 NHL games from 2017-18 to 2021-22, but he never had more than 10 points in a season, which came in his 61-game performance in 2018-19 with the Senators. Jaros was placed on unconditional waivers by the Blue Jackets on Oct. 2 to secure his release from the club. It seems the 29-year-old defenseman would rather play overseas in the KHL than in the minors, where he was certainly headed once the Jackets' training camp wrapped up. At this point, this probably marks the end of Jaros' NHL career, which would see him eventually retire having played in 94 regular-season games for the Senators, Sharks and Devils.

Similar to the other young defensemen in Ottawa, Jaros could be displaced by the offseason arrival of veterans Nikita Zaitsev and Ron Hainsey in 2019-20. Assuming they are both in the lineup and healthy, Jaros will be competing with Christian Wolanin and Erik Brannstrom for one of the final spots in the Senators' top six heading into the regular season. The 2015 fifth-round pick posted one goal and 10 points with 27 PIM and a plus-14 rating in 61 NHL games last season.
