2025 Fantasy Outlook
Forsberg had a record of 11-12-3 with a 2.72 GAA and a .901 save percentage in 30 regular-season outings with Ottawa in 2024-25. That’s not far from the norm for the 32-year-old netminder, who has a 3.04 GAA and a .904 save percentage in 190 career regular-season appearances. Now with Los Angeles, Forsberg will enter training camp fighting with Pheonix Copley for the No. 2 spot behind Darcy Kuemper. That’s a battle Forsberg is favored to win, and the reward would likely be about 30 starts with Kuemper picking up the remainder of the workload, barring injuries. The Kings are a good team with a great defense, so Forsberg will probably provide solid results when he is between the pipes despite his mediocre career numbers. Read Past Outlooks

Signs two-year pact
Forsberg inked a two-year, $4.5 million contract with Los Angeles on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Forsberg will enter training camp with a shot at unseating Pheonix Copley as the No. 2 option behind Darcy Kuemper. With the Senators last season, the 32-year-old Forsberg played in 30 games, posting an 11-12-3 record, career-best 2.72 GAA and three shutouts. Forsberg should see similar usage in 2025-26, limiting his fantasy value as long as Kuemper stays healthy.

Coming out of the 2023-24 campaign, Forsberg may have thought he had a chance at unseating Joonas Korpisalo as the No. 1 netminder after Forsberg went 15-12-0 with a 3.21 GAA and two shutouts in 30 contests. Instead, the club traded for Linus Ullmark in the offseason. While Ullmark is used to playing in a duo while he was with the Bruins, that isn't expected to be the case in Ottawa. As such, Forsberg will be hard-pressed to reach the 30-game mark this year, making him a relative non-factor in fantasy contests, barring an injury to Ullmark.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Likely to test UFA market
The Senators aren't ruling out re-signing Forsberg, but he's likely to become an unrestricted free agent Tuesday, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Forsberg has been a mixed bag over the past three campaigns, combining for a 37-35-5 record, 3.05 GAA and .898 save percentage across 88 regular-season appearances. The 22-year-old Leevi Merilainen showed promise with an 8-3-1 record, 1.99 GAA and .925 save percentage in 12 regular-season outings in 2024-25, so Ottawa might opt for a combination of Merilainen and Linus Ullmark this coming season. Forsberg projects to be a backup goaltender in 2025-26, either with Ottawa or elsewhere.
